DIBRUGARH, April 6: Asom Sangrami Chah Shramik Sangha (ASCSS) has demanded the scrapping of the agreement signed between Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) and Consultative Committee of Planters’ Association (CCPA) on daily wage of tea laborers and has to fix daily wage at Rs 330. The ASCSS Dibrugarh Circle Committee has welcomed the Labour and Employment Department’s decision to convene Wage Advisory Board’s meeting to come up with a consensus decision on daily wage of tea labourers. In a memorandum submitted to the Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, Government of Assam, through the Deputy Commissioner, the ASCSS said that they, along with other student and youth organizations of the tea community as well as other democratic organizations, had been demanding to fix daily wage on the basis of Minimum Daily Wage Act of 1948. But, ASCSS said, the ACMS and CCPA had signed an agreement on February 26 this year and unilaterally fixed Rs 115 as daily wage of tea labourers.
