ASEBSC faulter in fil

GUWAHATI, Jan 19: A good fight went in vain as Assam State Electricity Board Sports club (ASEBSC) had to satisfy with the runners up trophy in the 19th ONGC Lucky Srivastava Memorial Football Tourment held at Agartala today. Guwahati outfit lost the fil against Aryan Club of Kolkata via sudden death 9-10. The schedule and extra time ended as goalless draw.

The match, held at the Swami Vivekanda stadium, was almost an one sided affair as ASEBSC domited from the very beginning of the game and created several opportunities but didn’t success to convert a single one into goal. The side reached close to settle the game in the tie break and sudden death also but in both the occasions they failed to hold the nerve which filly cost the match.

Ganesh Rai, the coach of ASEBSC, today found upset after the end of the game. Talking to The Sentinel over telephone Rai said,” We played good soccer through out the game and should win it within schedule time. I think luck was not with us today.”

Aryan club received Rs one lakh along with champion trophy while ASEBSC were richer by Rs 50,000. Apurba Phukan of ASEBSC, who adjudged as the best player of the fil, collected a purse of Rs 5,000.
