Ashok Barman takes over as Darrang DC

MANGALDAI, August 31: Joint Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Magement Department of the Government of Assam, Ashok Barman took over as the 25th Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Darrang district on Wednesday.

Outgoing Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar, after serving in the district for a period of 18 months, on Wednesday handed over the charge to Ashok Barman. In the recent reshuffle in the State administration, outgoing Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar has been transferred and posted as the Deputy Commissioner in Dima Hasao district.

New Deputy Commissioner Ashok Barman earlier in 2007-2008 had rendered his sincere service in Darrang district as the Sub Divisiol Officer (Sadar) and during his tenure he played a key role in reorganizing the Mangaldai Sports Association (MSA). Ashok Barman, known as an experienced officer in revenue matters, had rendered his service in various capacities in the Revenue department for more than nine years. With his joining in the district, the conscious circles here are hopeful that he would be able to find out a solution to the perennial problem of encroachment of Village Grazing Reserves (VGR) and Professiol Grazing Reserves (PGR) and other government land of the district.
