Asom Gana Parishad takes out Protest Rally against Citizenship Bill

Naharkatia: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Naharkotiya, along with the other parts of the State, took out a massive torchlight rally on Friday opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The rally, which started from Naharkotiya Nagaon Tinali, passed through Naharkotiya town and later culminated at Moran Tinali, Naharkotiya.

More than 300 people participated in the rally headed by local AGP MLA Naren Sonowal, former MLA of Naharkotiya LAC, Kushumbar Tairai Gogoi and other senior leaders of the party. The protesters during the rally shouted slogans against the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister and the BJP government while strongly opposing the bill.

Later, while talking to media persons, MLA Naren Sonowal said, “We will continue our agitation till the proposed controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 is withdrawn.
