Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parisad, Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad Axom Protested Against Oil Fields Privatization Move

JOYSAGAR: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parisad (AJYCP) and the Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad Axom (TAYPA) staged a protest on Tuesday in Joysagar against the proposed move of the ONGC and OIL authorities to hand over the Gelakey oil field, the Charaideo oil field and the Dipling oil field to private companies. The privatization move will affect the locals of the district and the protesters demanded that the ONGC and OIL authorities should clarify their stand and also stop the process.

TAYPA activists also staged protest against the State PWD for its negligence in re-constructing the historic Borali which connects the Sivasagar Sadar with greater Gelakey and Joysagar via Nazira town. Sources revealed that a sum of Rs 4 crore had been granted for the re-construction of the same in the 2017-18 annual budgets by the State Finance Department but till the date the State PWD had not taken necessary steps to invite tender and allot the construction work to some contractor firm. Hundreds of activists of both organizations participated in the protest.
