Asomiya Yuva Mancha celebrates Bihu with orphans and homeless people in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of Asomiya Yuva Mancha (AYM) celebrated Rongali Bihu with an exceptional programme. The activists of the organization stood by the homeless people and orphans of the district who live under the shelter of different institutions and orphanages in North Lakhimpur.

The organization celebrated Goru Bihu at Maitree Ashram at Ujjalpur under Lilabari area, wherein a host of homeless women are taking shelter. A delegation of the organization, led by adviser Anupam Saikia, president Chiranjit Chakraborty and secretary Bikash Bhumij presented them new clothes. The organization organized a similar programme at Chinatolia Children Home on the same day and gifted the orphans with new clothes.

On Monday, the organization felicitated Padma Shri Dr. Uddhab Kumar Bharali at his residence and presented new clothes to old women and other inmates of the shelter home run by the internationally acclaimed innovator.

The organization felicitated a galaxy of prominent persons of the district too on Tuesday with Bihuwan. Senior citizens Keshab Bhuyan, theatre personalities Surya Bhuyan, Najim Ahmed, social activists Uday Sankar Hazarika, Sajad Hazarika, Dr. KN Das, journalist and Lakhimpur District SBM Brand Ambassador Ranjit Kakati, journalist Kumud Baruah, Lakhimpur District Xahitya Xabha president Sapon Kumar Dutta, cultural activist Dr. Amarendra Gogoi, academician and Axam Xahtya Xabha vice-president Dr. Hemanta Kumar Baruah and many other dignitaries of the district were felicitated by the organization on the occasion of Rongali Bihu.
