Assam agitation leader passes away

DULIAJAN, May 23: A leader of the Assam Agitation, Kak Chandra Bharali passed away at the age of 83 on Monday morning at Pragati Nursing Home in Dibrugarh. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter, along many relatives.

Bharali was actively involved in the oil agitation in 1980 in Duliajan as part of the Assam Agitation for which he went to jail many times. He was involved with many social organizations. Duliajan AASU president Rubul Gogoi, secretary Utpal Handique, AASU district education secretary Jadumoni Dutta and newly-elected MLA of Duliajan constituency, Teros Gowala have condoled his demise.
