Assam bandh passes off peacefully in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, May 7: The 12-hour Assam bandh called by Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) in protest against handing over of Assam land to Bangladesh, was spontaneous. The bandh passed off peacefully. Business establishments and fincial institutions like banks, were closed. Long distance and sub urban buses, and other modes of rural vehicular services remained off the road. However, private vehicles and three wheelers were plying in the town as usual. Educatiol institutions remained open. There was no report of any untoward incident. Asom Yuba Parishad (AYP) president Sunil Rajkonowar expressed his gratitude to all for making the bandh a success.
