Assam beat Arunachal in Santosh Trophy Soccer Championship

GUWAHATI: Assam earned full points against Arunachal Pradesh in the League matches of the North East qualifying round of the Santosh Trophy Soccer Championship at Aizawl today. Assam won the tie 2-1.

The match was well contested and Assam were once trailed by a goal in the first half. However the side fought very well in the second half and pumped in two goals which also ensured the victory for Assam. Bishnu Bordoloi scored the equalizer in the 55th minutes and later Akrang Narzary scored the winning goal in the 76th minutes of the match.

It may be mentioned here that Assam got walk over in the first game as opponent Nagaland didn’t turn up to play. In the last group game Assam will face Manipur on Saturday. Both the side is in must win situation to make progress in the next round. Like Assam, Manipur also played one match in the competition against Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday and won the game by a solitary goal.
