Assam beat Maharashtra in Santosh Trophy

GUWAHATI: After losing to hosts Punjab in the opening tie, Assam beat Maharashtra by 3-2 in their second group B match of the 73rd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana on Thursday. Bishnu Bordoloi opened the account for Assam in 12th minute. Maharashtra came back strongly after the brake and netted back to back goals by Arif Shaikh in 54th and 76th minutes. Milan Basumatary put Assam in level in 78th minute. It was midfielder Sirandeep Moran who delivered the winner for Assam in injury time of the match.'
