GUWAHATI: Assam came back strongly in the Ranji Trophy tie against Jammu & Kashmir courtesy to a solid knock from opener Rishav Das. Rishav today missed three-figure score for just five runs but his knock helped the home team to put a good total on the board in the second innings.

Assam, started from their overnight score 6-0, bowled out after tea session 245 in their second innings. Jammu Kashmir, chasing 230 runs to win, were 19-1 in their second innings.

Rishav looked solid in the middle today and played a very confident knock. Entire second innings of Assam were built around him. But the batsman was just five runs away from three-figure score when unfortunately he got out on a delivery from former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan which hit his pad in front of wicket.

Rishav took 200 balls to score 95 runs with the help of 13 boundaries. He also made two good partnerships with captain Amit Sinha and middle order batsman Sarupam Purkayastha. The fourth wicket partnership between Rishav and Sarupam (46, 4X7) produced 69 runs and later Rishav and Amit Singha (33) added another 84 runs on the board. Pallav Kumar Das (32, 4X4, 6X1) was the other batsman who contributed good score on the board. Among the bowlers of Jammu and Kashmir Irfan Pathan (3-45) and Parvez Rasool (3-30) made most damage in Assam innings.

Chasing 230 runs to win Jammu and Kashmir made worst possible start as they lost the opener Ahmed Bandy (0) without adding a single run on the board. Later they took their score to 19-1 in the second innings at stumps on day II. Only wicket that the visitors lost today was collected by Arup Das.

Meanwhile local photographer today faced a lot of trouble to cover the match as they were not allowed to take photograph during the middle of the game because of unknown reason. Although there was no official clarification from BCCI or ACA in this regard but the photographers alleged that they didn’t allow to take photos during post tea session from the ground by a match official who said he was implementing the instruction of match referee.
