Assam ethnic festival concludes at Diphu

DIPHU, March 15: The Assam Ethnic Festival, organized for the first time by Karbi Anglong district administration in association with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Karbi Cultural Society at Karbi Peoples Hall at Taralangshu here concluded today.  

The four-day cultural event, which was started from Thursday last drew huge crowd from across the state.  People thronged at showground where synchronized presentation of folk dance, drama, folk song and music were performed.

A cultural procession which was participated by the folk artistes of various  communities  was taken out today to mark the end of the event.

The Student’s Union of Assam University, Diphu campus organized a panel discussions as a part of the event. . District Information and Public Relation officer organized a photography competition on the theme of ethnic life of Assam.

 MGK Bhanu, Principal Secretary (Home), released the book Lammet Amung, a collection of  Karbi folktales, essay, verses and paintings and a documentary on Chomankan Karbi ritual.

 The Assamese translation of Lammet Amung , published by Director Information and Public Relation Hills was also released.

 Well-known literate Padmashree Rongbong Terang and Uddhav Bharali eminent inventor were felicitated by the organizers of the ethnic festival.
