Assam Golden Girl Hima Das sets foot on Home turf

Hima Das, the golden sprinter from Assam has arrived at the Guwahati today as she walked through the red carpet that was laid at the Guwahati airport. She was ceremoniously welcomed by none other than the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal himself at the airport for bringing laurels for Assam at international level.

Das, along with M. R. Poovamma, Sarita Gayakwad and V. K. Vismayawon clinched the gold medal for India in Women's 4 × 400 metres relay on 30 August 2018, at Asian Games 2018 Jakarta.

Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, BJP state president Ranjit Das were also present to greet Hima Das on her triumphant return to the mother land.

Das will attend the celebrations at Sarusajai stadium and Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra, where programs were organised to greet her.

Assam is widely celebrating the golden girl Hima Das’ return and the whole state is now welcoming the champion in a jubilant way.

In 2018 Das also became the first Indian athlete to bag a gold medal in a track event at the IAAF World U20 Championships.
