Assam Governor to visit Barak Valley

Hailakandi, April 13: Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi will be on a three-day visit to Barak Valley from April 19 to 22. The Governor will arrive in Silchar on April 19, Karimganj on April 20 and Hailakandi on April 21. During his visit to the three districts, Prof. Mukhi will hold meetings with the Deputy Commissioners and security agencies to take stock of the law-and-order situation. He will hold meetings with the Deputy Commissioners and heads of departments regarding ongoing Central Government schemes being implemented in the districts.

 Prof Mukhi will visit educational institutions, hospitals and offices to oversee the cleanliness drive undertaken as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Apart from this, the Governor will also interact with different religious, social, sports, literary organizations, student organizations, representatives of political parties, MPs, MLAs and other elected members. He will also address the media persons of the three districts.

 In Karimganj, the Governor will visit Sutarkandi and inspect the Indo-Bangla border up to Malegarh Latu where he will pay tribute to the martyrs of Sepoy Mutiny at the War Memorial. The Governor will be accompanied by First Lady, Prem Mukhi, Joint Secretary, DJ Borkotoky and ADC Deputy Commandant Suresh Kumar. Prof. Mukhi will depart for Guwahati after a night halt at Silchar on April 22.
