Assam Infrastructure Financing Authority (AIFA) gears up to create massive infrastructure

GUWAHATI: The Assam Infrastructure Financing Authority (AIFA), constituted with the aim of creating funds for execution of major infrastructure projects, has geared up to take up various ambitious projects to give fillip to the much-awaited infrastructure development in the State.

The AIFA has already floated tenders to award the contract for constructing the proposed Tinsukia Medical College in the first phase at an expenditure of Rs 350 crore. It is currently executing projects of reconstructing the Assam House in New Delhi, Myntriang Small Hydro Electric Project in Karbi Anglong district and the construction of office-cum-residential building in Majuli. The ongoing projects of the Authority are expected to be executed at an expenditure of Rs 140 crore.

On other hand, the AIFA has asked other departments concerned to prepare the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of construction of the Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva Museum in Guwahati at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore, 132/33 KV, 2X50 MVA Nathkuchi substation 132 KV S/C Rangia Nathkuchi Line on D/C and the third Assam House at Dwarka in New Delhi.

The AIFA was created during the previous Congress regime with the sole objective of creating infrastructures in the State with the help of Dispur’s own resources and funds. The organization was restructured in 2015. The AIFA has Rs 375 crore at its dispensation.

In the last few months the AIFA has geared up to take up various futuristic projects to create real assets and infrastructures in the State.
