Assam Jatiya Bidyalay’s Pride Priyanka Kalita And Simi Baishya

GUWAHATI: Priyanka Kalita, the fifth rank holder in the HSLC examination, 2019 from Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, Noonmati has brought laurels to her school. She is the daughter of Deva Kumar Kalita, a science teacher of Sathgaon Higher Secondary School and Bhagya Kalita, a home-maker.

Priyanka said that she had not aimed to get a rank but was focused on doing well and planned to study science and become an engineer. “I have been studying in this school since Nursery and owe a great deal to the teachers of the school. None of this would have been possible without my mother.” The rank holder also informed the reporters that she was hugely inspired by literature.

Principal of the school, Ghaneshyam Medhi said that Priyanka was expected to be among the top five. “We also expected a rank last year but that did not happen. It is not that we have better students this year but we luck was on our side this year. The fact all our HSLC appeared students passed is a success for our school.”

156 students appeared from Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, Noonmati this year, out of which 146 secured 1st Division, 9 secured 2nd Division and 1 secured 3rd Division. There are 156 Letter Marks out of which 13 scored state highest marks in General Mathematics, 4 in Advance Mathematics, 1 in Science and 1 in Fine Arts.

Another student of the school, Simi Baishya scored the State Highest in three subjects, 100 in General Mathematics, Advance Mathematics and General Science. She is the daughter of Sachin Baishya, a grocery store owner and Benuka Baishya, a home maker. She informed that she was satisfied with her results and planned to study medical science and become doctor.
