Assam Police Arrests Poacher with Arms and Ammunition in Mangaldai

Mangaldai: Acting on a tip-off by a reliable information regarding the presence of Rhino poacher identified as Mofidul Islam at Silbori area with arms and ammunition, Assam police conducted a search operation and arrested the suspected poacher.

Police informed that based on the information, accordingly on the evening of September 26, Officer-in-Charge of Dalgaon Police Station along with Deputy Superintendent of Police, P Rajkhowa, Sub Inspector J Daimary and PS staff conducted a search at Silbori area and apprehended Mofidul Islam, son of Abul Kasem of village No 2, Kacharivetitop.

The police team conducted further search and was following that one .303 Mark IV Rifle with a magazine,1(one) silencer pipe and 12 nos of Double Barrel Gun ammunition have been recovered from the paddy field of the said accused which were kept concealed underground.

During the interrogation, the accused stated about his involvement in poaching along with one Abdul Ali, son of Sheikh Chand of village Balighat PS Juria of Nagaon.

Meanwhile, a police team was sent from Darrang and they along with Juria PS staff conducted search and apprehended the accused person.

Further interrogation is being conducted.
