Assam register 2nd victory in Santosh trophy

GUWAHATI, Feb 20: Assam continued their winning run in the North East Zol matches of the Santosh Trophy soccer tourment at Aizwal today. In the second group match, the side defeated Tripura by 2-0 with Sibra rzary and Jessy Vanlalmua scored one goal each. It may be mentioned here that in the first Game Assam registered identical margin victory over galand on Thursday.   Although Assam collected six points from two matches but still they are not in the comfort zone as the side need a victory in the last group match against Meghalaya to earn the fil round berth. The game will be  held on February 23. Meghalaya, who are in Assam group,  also played two matches in the competition and earned  win in both the games. However the side scored eight goals in two matches which keep them ahead than Assam. Talking to The Sentinel over telephone from Aizwal, Kamala Kanta Singh, the coach of the Assam team said, “ The next match is crucial for us as we must win the game to qualify for the fil round. My boys are in good shape and I hope they will do it for us.”
