Hailakandi, June 25: A medical camp was organized in the flood-affected areas of Janeki Bazar in Hailakandi district by medical teams of 30 Assam Rifles, 21 Sector under the aegis of IGAR (E) on Sunday. The flooding in the areas has been a major administrative challenge and the medical teams are travelling and reaching far-off places to contain the spread of water-borne and skin diseases. The personnel of Assam Rifles also distributed solar lamps in the adjoining relief camps where people are stranded, as the areas are still under water. The medical teams and personnel of Assam Rifles have been operating continuously in the flood-affected areas of Barak Valley of Assam and in Tripura. Around 700 people were treated at the medical camp and given free medicines. Local MLA Nizamuddin Choudhury visited the medical camp and appreciated the efforts taken by the Assam Rifles. He also requested the Assam Rifles to organize more such camps in other affected areas of Hailakandi district.
