Assam suffer fourth defeat in Vijay Hazare Cricket competition

GUWAHATI: Poor run in the Vijay Hazare Cricket competition continued for Assam as they suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in Chennai today. This time against Bengal who won the tie by five wickets.

Chasing 151 runs to win Bengal reached the target in 25.4 overs losing five wickets. Mrinmoy Dutta (3-46) and Mukhtar Hussain (2-35) shared the wickets which Bengal lost in the game.

Earlier invited to bat, Assam lost wickets on regular interval and finally bowled out 150 playing only 35.5 overs. Except Riyan Parag (32), Abu Nechim Ahmed (31no) and Abhisekh Thakuri (27) no other batsmen were able to do something good with the bat. The situation could be worse if Abu and Mrinmoy in last wicket partnership added 24 runs on the board. Assam lost last eight wickets on way to add just 78 runs and seven batsmen of the team failed to put double digit runs against their name.
