GUWAHATI: Assam suffered huge 129 runs defeat against Bengal in the VM trophy tie at Surat today. Chasing 214 runs to win Assam were bowled out paltry 84 runs in 38.5 overs.

Only two batsmen-Nibir Deka (19) and Akash Sengupta (33no) scored double-figure runs in Assam innings. Earlier Bengal, elected to bat, scored 213-7 in their 50 overs.

Shakir Habib Gandhi played an unbeaten knock of 54 runs while Ankit Shukla contributed 40 runs on the board. Rituraj Biswas (3-30) was the most successful bowler for Assam.
