NAGAON, July 30: In a function on Sunday morning held at Khagen Mahanta auditorium in Nagaon town, the Union Railway Minister for State Rajen Gohain inaugurated the state farmers based scheme Mukhyamantri Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana and distributed 27 subsidy tractors to the farmers of 27 revenue villages of the district.
In the inaugural speech, Gohain stated that the farmers of the district as well as the State should give more priority to organic chemistry instead of chemical fertilizer in their agricultural products. He however said that through the scheme, farmers could cultivate easily various crops in the entire year which was hardly seen in the State earlier. He added that the scheme would encourage the farmer community of the State to combat the hardships of farming and would bring a new dimension to the agricultural field of the State.
Minister of State for Water Resources and Minister for State Hand Loom and Textiles, Keshab Mahanta and Ranjit Datta respectively were present. On the other hand, the district agriculture officer, Debeswar Panging, in an interaction with this correspondent at the site of the function, stated that the district agriculture office in first phase would distribute total 123 subsidy tractors to 123 revenue villages out of which total 27 were distributed among farmers and the rest would be distributed within a couple of days.
