Assam Valley School wins debate competition

JORHAT, OCT 27: Assam Valley School, Balipara, Tezpur and HHMI bagged first and second position respectively at the 4th HHMI Alumni All Assam Inter-School debate competition that was held recently at the school premises, informed Brijesh Poddar, the secretary of the Alumni Association on Friday.

The topic of the debate competition was ‘Internet-an explosion of information technology has become a bane for school students in India’. The debate was held at the historic Golden Jubilee hall where altogether 46 teams from all throughout the State took part. Subhash Mishra of AVS Balibapara and Bishu J Pegu of Pragjyotika Junior College, Titabor was adjudged as the best debater in Hindi and English.

Meanwhile, Dr. Aditi Bezbarua of Jorhat Engineering College was the Speaker while Dr. Neeta MS Chattar and Dr. Sulaksha were in the jury. Prabhat Bezbaruah, the chairman of Tocklai Tea Research Institute, and gesh Singh, a prominent cricketer of the State, spoke on the occasion.
