Itagar, May 20: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul congratulated desigted Chief Minister of Assam Sarbanda Sonowal for the victory of the BJP party in the state.

Terming the win as a people’s verdict for development with peace championed by Prime Minister rendra Modi, he said that he was not at all surprised by the clear mandate in favour of the BJP and its allies.

“I was in Assam during the campaign period and while there, I felt the pulse of the people. We could very clearly sense that the people wanted a change from what the Congress Govt was offering”. He also extended his congratulations to Himanta Biswa Sarma and other leaders in the alliance from the Asom Ga Parishad (AGP), the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and other tribal groups for the victory.

Elaborating that the results were not merely a ‘anti-incumbency’ vote, the chief minister said that it had deeper significance. “This is a significant expression by the people of Assam that they, like a lot of other states across the tion, are fed up with the un-inspiring and disoriented governce that the Congress has been offering to the people since many years”.

Pul further said that the victory of the BJP and its alliance in Assam would have far reaching implications for the northeast region, and specially Aruchal Pradesh. He said he was confident that this would create an environment where we can work together for regiol growth in the northeast.

“The people in the northeast cannot grow in isolation of each other, we have to work in synergy and with each other and for that it is critical that like-minded governments and people carry forward the dialogue on development”, he said.

Expressing that Assam and Aruchal has a relationship that goes beyond the time of the British, Pul said that the people share a history of trade, cultural exchange and of co-existence across generations and these strong bonds cannot be shaken just like that by divisive forces.

He expressed confidence that cross-cutting issues with our neighbours like the vexed boundary issue, will be amicably sorted out by ensuring that stakeholders at all levels are involved in the process, which will be done in consultation with the local citizens and the two state governments.

Meanwhile, the state BJP also congratulated the people of Assam for giving their resounding mandate to the party in the state.

Terming it a historic win, state BJP vice president Techi Necha addressing a small gathering at the party head office on Thursday said that the results would now impact the political equation of the entire North-East as a whole. “The victory of the BJP and its electoral alliance in Assam is the result of the Congress’s misrule and high handedness corruption,” said Necha adding that Prime Minister rendra Modi’s vision of a Congress-Mukt India is turning into a reality.

BJP tiol Executive member Tame Phassang stating that the party moving forward has now established governce in 10 states in the country from nine, added that the Prime Minister has been paying attention to the northeast region of India unlike the previous Congress government, which is clearly seen in the mandate given by the people.

“The people of Assam have awakened, which shows that they want change. It is Aruchal’s time now,” Phassang said and called on the general masses to come together and support the party. The state BJP also extended its congratulations to the people of West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil du, and Puducherry on the occasion.
