Our Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, July 5: The Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University (BU), Prof. Hemanta Kumar Baruah rubbished the allegation made by some scholars pursuing M.Phil that the university was neglecting the Assamese language. The allegation was made by some research scholars pursuing M Phil in Bodoland University stating that the university had asked the scholars pursuing M. Phil. in Assamese to submit their dissertation in English, apart from Assamese. The Vice-Chancellor of BU, however, denied the allegation saying that the university had never asked the scholars to submit their thesis in English. He said the scholars were still writing their thesis in Assamese and Bodo depending on their subject. He, however, said as a copy of the thesis needed to be sent to a university outside the respective State, they were asked to submit their dissertation with translated copies in English.

“It is not literary translation but a kind of synopsis about their paper,” he said. He said the university had never discriminated any language and had given equal importance to all languages.
