Assign specialist doctor' in CHC Sohra: HYC

SHILLONG, April 19: Concern over the health care scerio in Sohra, the Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) Sohra Circle on Wednesday demanded the MUA-II government led by Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma to assign ‘Specialist Doctor’ in Community Health Centre (CHC) Sohra to better serve the people of the region suffering from more serious ailments.

In a memorandum submitted by the Council, to Health Minister Roshan Warjri, last week the Council had demanded the government to assign ENT Specialist, Medicine Specialist and Child Specialist as the CHC at present does not have such specialists.

The Council had further demanded that the government should provide an ambulance and a Mortuary Van to ease the problems of the people of the region in times of emergency.

“It has been almost 2 years now that the CHC Sohra does not have even an ambulance to serve the needs of the people in times of emergency,” S Nongrum, President and P. Nongrum, General Secretary of the Council said in a statement issued here. The HYC has also demanded that the government should immediately construct an Operation Theater to benefit those people coming from underprivileged families, who does not have the fince to seek medical attention in the capital city of Shillong and to arrange an X-Ray Machine, Computer and a Zerox machine at the CHC.

At the same time, the Council has demanded that the government should upgrade the capacity of the CHC to 100 beds.
