HAJO, Sept 25: Rashtra Sevika Samiti, the largest Hindu tiolist women’s organization, organized a pathasanchalan (route march) along with Astra Puja (weapons worship) on Sunday at Ramdiya, Hajo. The Rashtra Sevika Samiti was founded in 1936 at Wardha by Laxmibai Kelkar on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami with a mission to unite Hindu women. The programme was conducted at Ramdiya Girls’ High Secondary School, a press release said. It was started with the hoisting of the holy and sacred Bhagawat Dhwaj (flag), followed by display of a few Yoga Ashas by the Sevikas. There was also a patriotic song (Vande Mataram) to which a few Sevikas danced to its rhythm. The chief guest at the programme, Nilima Bharali Kalita and others delivered speeches highlighting the role and responsibilities of women as mothers who need to further play the role of cultural ambassadors. The Sevikas, along with rest of the audience, worshipped Bharat Mata and the Shastras (weapons), the release added.
