Astrologer's murder: Blood-stained knife found, missing scooty recovered

DIGBOI, May 4:  While Digboi police has been carrying investigation to b the murderers of Deepak Acherjee (57), an astrologer at Digboi Topla Basti, who was killed on April 30, the relatives of the deceased noticed a blood-stained knife on the roadside from near the place where the corpse of the victim was found lying under the blades of the grass beside a vacant quarter 1656-A in CMH Area.

According to the investigating officer, the relatives of the deceased informed the police on Wednesday morning about the knife seen during lighting of candles in the said location for the peace of the victim’s soul. When asked about the development to this effect, the OC of Digboi Police Station said that interrogation of the family members and relatives was being done and police were not too far from the crimils and their accomplices involved in the heinous act.

Meanwhile, the police said that the missing Scooty too was recovered by Margherita Police from Segunbari in Margherita. It was found abandoned and the number plate was missing.

“Though no arrest to this effect has been made as yet, the crimils who are trying to mislead the police are not too far and all those involved in the act will be booked soon,” added the investigating officer.

Deepak Acharjee, a resident of Topla Basti in Digboi under Digboi Police station in Tinsukia district, was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants on April 30. The body was found lying in the AOD residential area beside a vacant quarter 1656-A in CMH area, very close to his residence.
