Atal Amrit Abhiyan launched in Jorhat

JORHAT, AUG 14: Atal Amrit Abhiyan was launched in Jorhat district. This scheme has been sponsored by the Government of Assam, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and will be assisted by Medi Assist, a private implementing agency, in association with Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It was launched by Kamakhya Prasad Tasa , MP Jorhat, as chief guest in presence of Virendra Mittal, Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat and members from Medi Assist and NHM officials at Baghchung Gaon Panchayat auditorium here on Monday.
Launching the Atal Amrit Abhiyan in Jorhat, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa urged APL and BPL card holders and the families whose annual income is below Rs 5 lakh to come forward and to take the benefit of the Atal Amrit Abhiyan health card system. The Jorhat MP called upon people to collect the cards from the respective Panchayat offices and government hospitals at the earliest after producing relevant documents. Each family member can get benefit to the tune of Rs 2 lakh every year for six diseases - cardiovascular disease, cancer, kidney ailment, neo-tal disease, neurological conditions and burns.
Virendra Mittal, the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, urged people to take the opportunity as treatment for the mentioned six diseases was expensive. Jorhat district BJP president Shantanu Pujari aslo urged people to avail the benefits of the scheme.
Earlier, Atal Amrit Abhiyan Health Cards were handed over to 15 BPL beneficiaries at the iugural function by Jorhat Lok Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa. The function was attended by hundreds of people from the panchayat area of Baghchung block in Jorhat district.
