Atal Amrit Abhiyan launched in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, Nov 14: The pilot project of the tiol Health Mission, Assam - Atal Amrit Abhiyan - was formally launched in Kokrajhar through a programme held at the Simbargaon State Dispensary on Tuesday. The scheme was launched by MLA of 29-Kokrajhar West-Rabiram rzary in presence of higher officials of the NHM and other guests.

The Superintendent (I/C) of Balagaon CHC, Dr. Nilu Kr. Brahma said the scheme was formally launched at Simbargaon State Dispensary in the district and it would be launched one after another in every block. He said through this scheme the people from BPL or APL families would get health insurance card of Rs 2 lakh as benefit to get treatment for six major diseases like cancer, kidney disease, lung disease, post-tal disease, burn and cardiac vascular disease. The beneficiaries will get free treatment in the hospitals across the country associated with the NHM for Rs. 2 lakh, he said adding that the project aimed at discarding the major diseases.

District Programme Mager (DPM) of NHM, Kokrajhar, Uttam Kr. Basumatary said the beneficiaries would get health insurance card of Rs. 2 lakh annually for treatment of six major diseases and they could avail this facility in 80 hospitals in the cities across the country having association with NHM and there were six such hospitals in Assam. He said all beneficiaries would receive Rs. 8 lakh till 2020 for free treatment but one could not withdraw the amount as they wished and it would work only in the hospital while taking treatment. He also said there would be officials to help the patients in the 80 hospitals and they could also avail 102 ambulance to ferry patients in the hospitals in their respective areas.

MLA Rabiram rzary said the scheme was an ambitious project of the NHM and it aimed at eradicating the major diseases. He said there were many families which were not in a position to afford treatment in hospitals for major diseases. Through the health insurance card, one can avail the opportunity for the treatment for Rs. 2 lakh. He also said the card would reach every village where the BPL and APL families could avail this opportunity.

The programme was also attended by former EM, BTC, Derhasat Basumatary, Block Development Officer of Kokrajhar, Maj Daimary, Block Medical Officer, Balajan, yan Brahma, health educator Swapan Kr. rzary, social worker Matla Hembrom and chairmen of VCDCs.
