ATASU opposes big dam construction

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), April 12: The executive body of All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU) condemned the decision of the Central Government for continuing the Lower Subansiri Hydro-electric project on Tuesday evening at an executive meeting held in Golaghat. The ATASU expressed sharp reaction over the decision of the Central Government of construction of big dam in Assam. They opposed the activities of the BJP government. In the meeting they took a decision to meet Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal and Opposition leaders for  seeking their stand over the issue of big dam in Assam,  ST status to six ethnic groups, withdrawal of citizenship amendment bill and population policy in Assam. They later said that ATASU would never accept the decision of the Central Government to construct big dams in Assam.
