ATASU stages dhar against OIL

DULIAJAN, MAY 21: Around 100 activists of All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU) staged a dhar on Thursday in front of OIL’s registered office and field head quarter, Duliajan against OIL, seeking fulfillment of various demands soon.

The demands include  50 per cent reservation in OIL jobs for Ahom community youths, scholarship for meritorious poor students of the ethnic community, economic package  for preservation of ancient monuments, economic package for road  construction, education, drinking water supply and healthcare facilities for ethnic communities living within the radius of OIL areas and other demands.

After two hours of demonstration, a memorandum signed by president Litul Buragohain, working president Durga Konwer, Kumud Gogoi and joint secretaries Budhin Gogoi and Dulal Baruah was submitted to OIL authority in presence of Circle Officer Moon Gogoi,Tengakhat Revenue Circle. The president of Dibrugarh district committee of ATASU, Miram Gogoi and secretary Bibunda Hazarika were also took part in the demonstration.
