ATASU stages protest over poor road condition

SIVASAGAR, July 29: The All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU), Sivasagar unit on Friday blocked the Sivasagar-Sori road at Laxmi gar against pathetic road condition. They were demanding development and reconstruction of various poor conditioned roads of Sivasagar town and its adjacent areas.

More than hundred ATASU members joined the blockade which brought the traffic to a complete halt for a few hours. They set a deadline to the state government and PWD to repair the deplorable roads within 15 days.

They also threatened to stage an indefinite blockade on the road if roads are not repaired within this time.

The condition of most of the roads in Sivasagar town and its adjacent areas including the NH37 is deplorable now.
