The police who by this had silently followed the trail after an input from one of the security guards filly maged to apprehend the duo from a place of hiding in Six Mile. CCTV footage installed inside the ATM showed a man who entered the ATM at around 2:15 am and first cut the wire connected to the CCTV behind the ATM machine and in 20 minutes time detached the vault from the ATM machine and whisked away in a Tata Indica vehicle.

Additiol SP (Security) of Jorhat, Santanu Dutta, who headed the SIT (Special Investigation Team) to crack the previous ATM loot case of Rs 1. 64 crore, was also present in Guwahati during the arrest of the two robbers.
