TANGLA, August 14: The Akhil Hindibhashi Yuva-Chatra Parishad Tangla regiol committee has strongly condemned the recent attack on Hindi-speaking people in Philobari of Tinsukia district by suspected ULFA (I) militant resulting in the death of two persons.

The Tangla regiol unit of the students’ body had organized a mourning day near Tangla railway station on Saturday. Nearly 50 activists of the students’ body along with its central president Binod Kr. Singh lit candles for the bereaved souls of the victims. Participating in the programme, Singh said time and now the Hindi-speaking people had been targeted by militant outfits.

The students’ body, expressing its resentment towards the State Government, said it was the first such attack after the new government was voted to power. The students’ body urged the government to ensure security to each and every citizen, irrespective of their caste, creed and community. “Such attacks on any community will lead to a deterioration of law and order, which will negatively impact investments in Assam from outside the State,” Singh said.
