Attempt at bbing the rapist teacher

SHILLONG, Feb 9: After failing to b the alleged rapist teacher in multiple places, the Police is looking at an option to move before the court to proclaim the accused ‘as an absconder’ after charge-sheeting him. Konesshon Rodborn is a resident of Mawsynram and teaches in Tlong Umiam Secondary School under Sohiong constituency. He is alleged of raping his own school student and for making unwanted advance on another pupil.

Police effort to b him has been proving to be futile even as the alleged victim has testified the perpetrator misdeeds. The Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem told The Sentinel, “Investigation is on and the alleged accused evading police investigation will only invite him with more trouble”.

Usually, the Procedure adopted by the department on an absconder of heinous crime is to charge sheet him and move the court for proclamation of attachment of property, stated Syiem while adding that the case is serious in ture. The SP said that the options are well in the thoughts to bring the accused teacher within the ambit of the law. A case under Laban Police station under U/s 5 (f) (p) 11 (4) and (5)Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO)Act.  A Look out notice was also issued by the SP East Khasi Hills District on Wednesday.

Meanwhile the Sordar Shnong (Traditiol Chief) of Mawryngkneng Peter Lawai, who is also a President of Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) is now in Judicial Custody-at the Shillong District Jail. Lawai is accused of trying to facilitate a compromise between a rape victim and the six other rapist at Mawryngkneng, around 30 Kms from here.  Lawai was arrested before feigning illness in police custody. He was taken to Shillong Civil Hospital before a medical board was constituted to check the veracity of his ailments. According to S.P, Lawai has been remanded to judicial custody and he can be taken to the North eastern Indira Gandhi Regiol Institute of health and medical science (Neighrihms) for any treatment. Menwhile, the six other accused in the raping case, where Peter Lawai tried to bring about a compromise are still languishing in jail. Syiem said, ‘ We have built up the case and a chargesheet will be made in the coming days”.
