Attempt to kill women on a moving jeep

AGARTALA, May 12: In a bizarre incident a man tried to kill a women by cutting her throat with a blade inside a passenger filled running jeep at Lichu Bagan area on Wednesday noon.  

However, other passengers of the jeep overpowered the attacker and maged to prevent him though the women sustained serious injuries in her throat and other parts of the body.

Both the women Shilurani Debth (38) and the attacker Pradip Debth (44) board the jeep from Radha gar bus stand to return home at Bhati Fatikchera. They got involved in a verbal duel and suddenly Pradip jumped on Shilurani with a blade and tried to cut her throat.

Other passengers of the jeep immediately got hold of Pradip and prevented him from causing further damage to the women and handed over him to the police. Shilurani were given several stitch in her throat and other parts of the body after being taken to the hospital.

It is learnt that both of them are residents of Bhati Fatikchera and Pradip is the brother in law of Shilurani’s elder sister. Officer-in –charge of the Lafunga police station Anupam Das told the reporters that the incident might be the fall out of love affairs.
