Joysagar, March 14: The All Tea Tribes Students Association (ATTSA) staged a protest on Wednesday by blocking the NH-37 in Sivasagar, Mahmora, Sori and Charaideo for two hours demanding immediate release of the pending wages of the labourers of Assam Tea Company.
Altogether 18,000 tea garden labourers of Assam Tea Company have been facing much hardship due to the alleged negligence of the authorities. The ATTSA alleged that about 14 tea gardens belonging to Assam Tea Company have not released the monthly wages of the labourers for the past one month. Besides, the monthly ration which the tea garden authorities provide to the labourers has also not been supplied for about a month. ATTSA has been demanding the authorities to pay wages and supply ration regularly but the authorities allegedly remained silent. ATTSA therefore staged protest on Wednesday.
