ATTSA stages road blockade

Tezpur, Aug 28: Tension prevailed at Dhekiajuli following an incident recently which was allegedly an insult to the statue of founder secretary of ATTSA, Sontosh Kumar Toppo, that was installed in his tive place, Dibrugarh. 
According to sources, activists of Assam Tea Tribe Students Association, Sonitpur district, came out on NH-15 at Dhekiajuli and staged a protest following the incident of allegedly putting objectioble dresses on the statue of Sontosh Kumar Toppo. They shouted slogans demanding immediate arrest of the culprits and exemplary punishment for them. 
Central executive member of ATTSA, Mohan Tanti said that the statue of the great leader of the tea tribe community of Assam was insulted and it was an act of disrespect towards the tea tribe community as a whole. He said that the police had not arrested the culprits till now, which was unfortute. He said that they had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister for taking action in this connection and if the authority failed to do so, they would launch a massive agitation.
