From a Correspondent

JORHAT, July 9: After a whirlwind tour, State Agricultural Minister Atul Bora, along with Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, in a review meeting held at the Jorhat Circuit House conference hall instructed all department heads to rush to the worst affected areas and distribute relief materials along with the drive to drain out water logging in urban and semi-urban areas within the districts of Jorhat, Golaghat and Sivasagar on Sunday.

Minister Bora was on a whirlwind tour since Saturday and attended numbers of review meetings at Sivasagar, Jorhat and Golaghat and instructed all departmental heads to reach to the prone and worst affected areas. Bora also took stock of several areas, roads and by-lanes which remained inundated since early Sunday. In areas like Bongal Pukhuri, Club Road, Kushal gar, Kakoty Gaon, Atilia Goan, East Bongal Pukhuri and -Ali Rail gate, till evening the situation remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, several organizations, including AASU, AJYCP, Lawyers’ Union and Senior Citizen Forum heavily flayed the Jorhat sitting MLA and MP for not taking stock of the situation and meeting the affected people in this hour of crisis. On the other hand, the ASEB too played hide-and-seek and took advantage of the situation to shut down power lines.
