Atul Bora rubbishes reports about end of BJP-AGP alliance

From our Correspondent

Jorhat, May 5: AGP president Atul Bora said the alliance led by BJP would form the next government in Assam and AGP would play a key role in the next government.

Addressing a press conference in Jorhat, Bora said, “Our alliance parties of BJP-AGP-BPF will form the next government under the leadership of BJP. We are confident that our allied parties will get sufficient seats to form the government by defeating Congress and our party will be an important part in the government.”

Reacting to the recent media reports that AGP would not want to stay in the alliance with BJP, Bora said, “The recent media reports about end of alliance with BJP is completely false and baseless. We made pre-poll alliance with BJP and accordingly the people of the State have already given their mandate in favour of us. People of Assam want a change in terms of BJP-AGP alliance and we will never dissolve this alliance only for the greater interest of the people in the State.”

When asked about the much talked probable AGP-Congress alliance, the AGP president said, “We are quite clear on the point that we will never make any alliance or understanding with Congress. We will always stay against Congress. The people of Assam want a change in the State and voted for our allied parties in the polls for getting this change.”

Reacting on the so-called reports of a ‘Third front government’, Bora said, “The third front is a creation of the Congress party. The leaders of the Congress have been trying to publish this rumour. They already know about their poor performance in the polls. So they are now making this political strategy which is completely false and fabricated.”
