Auction of oil and gas fields: SAMYCS slams Centre, threatens agitation

DULIAJAN, September 7: The BJP government led by Prime Minister rendra Modi will auction 69 oil and gas field sectors of Oil India Limited (OIL) and Oil and tural Gas Corporation (ONGC) to private companies. This has been condemned by the Sadou Asom Mottack Yuba Chatra Sanmilan (SAMYCS) central committee. Bulbul Neog, information and publicity secretary, SAMYCS central committee, said in a press release that on September 2 the Centre had taken the decision to auction 69 oil and gas fields sector to private companies. He alleged that the sentiments of the people of Assam had been hurt by this decision. He said that if the oil and gas fields were auctioned to private companies then thousands of people and small businessmen would lose their livelihood. Neog warned that unless the Centre decided against auctioning the oil and gas fields, SAMYCS would launch an agitation soon.
