Australian cyclist accorded warm welcome by villagers of Bengbari

TANGLA, April 3: The Sanskrit verse Athithi Devo Bhava  has been very aptly displayed by the people of Bengbari village in Udalguri district. An Australian tourist who has been cycling across the country from the last six months, reached Udalguri district on Sunday.

The cyclist was traveling through the route Udalguri-Tamulpur road to Dimakuchi when he reached the river Bhola which does not have any bridge for transportation. Two villagers of Bengbari, mely Bedanta Deka and Juwel Deka, helped the tourist cross the river. The villagers later felicitated the tourist with a phulam gamosa.

Interacting with a media person, the tourist said, “The tural beauty of the Assam is truly mesmerizing.” The tourist was also seen praising the beauty of the hand-woven Assamese gamosa. He thanked all the villagers and left for his destition.
