Autism awareness and intervention program organised

Guwahati, April 28: Shishu Sarothi in partnership with Com DEALL, Bangalore has started an Early Intervention program called Com DEALL Unit, Guwahati for children with communication disorders, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder.

To celebrate the Autism Awareness Month, the Com DEALL unit of Shishu Sarothi conducted an awareness and intervention program on Autism Spectrum Disorder. This workshop was done to create greater awareness and better understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder in different levels amongst the beneficiaries mainly Special Educator, Therapists, Care givers, Parents, teachers, Doctors, Psychologists and Counsellors.  

Amrita Buzar Baruah the team leader of Com DEALL Unit, Guwahati welcomed the guests and introduced about Autism Spectrum Disorder along with their characteristics and assessment tools.

Mythili Hazarika, a renowned Clinical psychologist of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital was the key resource person, in her awareness talk she emphasised on family intervention program. She also stressed on behavioural modification of the child with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Lastly, she mentioned that Consistency, Contingency and Contiguity in treatment and intervention reinforces a positive behavior in the child. This was a stated in a press release.
