Auto-rickshaw associations submit memo to DDC

Silchar,  April 21: Silchar Auto-Rickshaw Owners' Association, Silchar PMRY Auto-Rickshaw Owners' Association and Silchar Town Auto-Rickshaw Owners' Association and Cachar Auto-Drivers' Association have jointly submitted a memorandum to PB Roy, District Development Commissioner, addressed to the Deputy Commissioner regarding the movement of e-rickshaws in municipality area. Both auto- rickshaws and e-rickshaws are moving freely in the town. But when e- rickshaws were started, the members of the associations submitted a memorandum to abide by the guidelines given by the government. The government notification allows e- rickshaws only in rural and semi rural areas, and connecting parts of municipal areas.

 But, as stated in the memorandum, it has been seen that e- rickshaws are plying freely in the municipal areas. In this regard, a meeting was also conducted by the district administration on March 20, 2018 in which the members of the auto-rickshaw associations were assured that necessary steps would be taken up within short time. Till now no concrete steps have been taken up in this case. It has been mentioned in the memorandum that democratic agitations would be launched by the members of these associations if no measures are taken within 15 days. They have also attached a copy of the minutes of the meeting which was chaired by PB Roy and held on Friday.
