Avishek hits ton, Silchar in command

GUWAHATI, March 9: Silchar took full control over Hailakandi on the first day of the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket Tourment tie held at the Barsapara Cricket stadium here today. Chasing Hailakandi’s 1st innings total 156 Silchar were 163-3 in their first innings and took 8 runs lead in the first innings before stumps on day I. Avishek Thakuri scored century and remained not out on 115.

Hailakandi, in the morning, won the toss and decided to bat. Except Rupam th (63, 136, 4×11) no other batsmen of Hailakandi were able to stay on the wicket too long and the entire squad wren bowled out 156 runs. Ikramul Ali was the wrecker in chief. The bowler single handedly destroyed the innings of Hailakandi picking 5-18 in his 7.2 overs spell.

Later Silchar got the opportunity to bat for 34 overs and the team scored 164-3. Avishek Thakrui, faced most of the balls among the Silchar’s batsmen today, remained not out on 115 (134 balls). There are 15 boundaries and four sixes in Thakuri’s unbeaten knock.
