AWA to conduct weightlifting championship

Itagar, Sept 3: Aruchal Weightlifting Association (AWA) is all set to conduct a two-day 9th state level weightlifting championship at Sports Authority of India SAG centre here from September 10.

AWA president Abraham K Techi (also Indian Weightlifting Federation vice president), general secretary Daniel Teli president and media adviser Pradeep Kumar had a thorough discussion yesterday to give fil shape to the event, AWA sources informed here today.

In all 14 districts of the total 21 districts would take part in the event with 15 representatives including seven girls each and the event would be declared open by sports & youth affairs secretary Dani Salu, sports director Tadar Apa and AH&V FAO Yab Basu Kamdir.

The event would be conducted by Abrham, an intertiol weightlifting  referee and tiol referees Kumar Doka, Daniel, Doyum Taipodia and Takio Tasap. Moreover, D D Sharma and Piyanu Chanu are coaches but Shrama is a Olympian coach as well as of weightlifter Yukar Sibi, who won laurels for the state Commonwealth Youth Games-2008, Pune, sources added.
