Award for best teachers of Northeast

GUWAHATI, Aug 3: City based publishing house Bookland will confer the Teachers’ Excellence Award to seven noted teachers of the Northeast in Guwahati. The publishing house announced this in a press meet here on Thursday which was attended by novelist Dr Laksmindan Borah, eminent jourlist Dhirendra th Chakravarty, writer Ruhini Kumar Baruah and educationist and former professor of Cotton College Dr Surendra Mohan Mahanta. The award ceremony will be held in the month of January next year. The yearly award has been planned to encourage the young generation towards the profession of teaching and to honour the dedicated teachers. Speaking at the press meet jourlist Dhirendra th Chakravarty said, “Teachers are the one who takes stand after parents.” The awards will be given in five categories that include: Best Teacher Award for innovative teaching methods, Best Teacher Award for Excellence in Co-curricular activities, Best Pre- Primary teacher, Malati th Memorial teacher of the Year Award and Binod th Memorial Life Time Achievement Award for outstanding performance in social change through teaching.
