Awareness camp on child rights held

DEMOW, July 15: Under the patroge of Assam State Commission for Protection Child Rights and in association with District Child Protection Unit, Sivasagar, an awareness camp was held in Krish Bihari Tea Estate on Friday where Gopal Sarma and Dr.Tilu Hazarika, both members of Assam State Commission for Protection Child Rights, were present. 
Before coming to the awareness camp, both the members of Assam State Commission for Protection Child Rights visited an Anganwadi centre in Sivasagar. After that they visited Demow Model Hospital and during their visit they found only one child specialist in the hospital, which was not sufficient and an additiol child specialist doctor was needed, they said.
They also visited the tea gardens areas of Demow and an Anganwadi centre in Kaliapani. They found various facilities for children lacking in the Anganwadi centre as well as in the tea grardens.
They went to Krish Bihari Tea Estate and enquired regarding the child trafficking case which took place in the area. After that they had a discussion with the People of that area. During their discussion they talked about anemia and child marriage.
In the programme, Dibya Deori, officer of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Dipak Taye, social worker, Rupa Gogoi, Protection Officer of Non-Institutiol Care, Biki Borthakur, member of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and members of Sopur Social Development Society, an NGO were present.
