Awareness camp on fincial literacy held

KOKRAJHAR, February 14: An awareness camp was organized recently by Rural Welfare Development Association (RWDA), an NGO of Podmabil at Belguri Community Hall on fincial literacy and public awareness under the sponsorship of tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD), Kokrajhar.

Many villagers took part in the awareness camp where the Development Mager of BARD, Kokrajhar, Bhama Deory and Assistant Mager of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (RO), Deepjyoti Sutradhar took part and briefed the people regarding loan opportunities, recovery of loan and life insurance. The awareness programme was also addressed by the social activist and editor-in-chief of Bibungthi-The Opinion, Pratibha Brahma.

The president of RWDA, Indra Basumatary and secretary Sibendra Brahma said the villagers of interior places lacked knowledge on the opportunities from fincial institutions. They hoped that this kind of awareness camp enlightens villagers to grab the advantage of fincial institutions to sustain their economy through different means and ways. They also assured the people that they would organize similar programmes for the greater interest of the villagers in the near future. The NGO has organized similar programmes on earlier occasions.
